Community Services

From its humble beginnings over thirty-five years ago as a small fellowship of believers to its current status as a legally recognized institution, Living Gospel Church (LGC) has endeavored to make meaningful contributions to both the Kingdom of God and the local community, acknowledging these blessings as bestowed by God's grace. Situated in downtown Winnipeg, the Church has remained a steadfast pillar dedicated to serving the diverse African communities, with a special emphasis on congregants from Ethiopia and Eritrea. Through various programs tailored to address the multifaceted needs of our community, including initiatives targeting children, youth, and women, LGC has consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to uplifting those around us. Below are examples of the impactful community activities and initiatives spearheaded by LGC and its members.

Community Events

LGC stands as a hub for a variety of community events, acting as a catalyst for unity and shared experiences among its members. A shining example of this communal spirit is the longstanding tradition of summer camping at the Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre, an event cherished for over two decades, fostering fellowship and friendship among attendees. The Church hosts an array of gatherings designed to foster community cohesion, from communal meals to targeted workshops and conferences. Moreover, LGC warmly welcomes various social occasions, particularly those related to weddings within the evangelical Christian community, fostering meaningful interactions not only among its members but also with neighboring communities. Moreover, in times of grief, the Church and its members extend unwavering support and solace to the Ethiopian and Eritrean communities, offering comfort and assistance in the wake of loss.

Affordable Housing

One of the notable community contributions by LGC is the establishment of a 60,505-square-foot, seven-storey affordable housing complex in collaboration with provincial and federal governments. This initiative offers 38 inclusive apartments, serving as a vital asset to immigrant and refugee families.

Resettlement Programs

LGC has played a key role in forging partnerships with governmental bodies and private entities to facilitate the legal immigration and resettlement of refugees in Canada, providing a lifeline for those seeking refuge and a fresh start. Over the years, the Church has been instrumental in facilitating the immigration of hundreds of individuals who have endured arduous journeys as refugees in various parts of the world, ensuring their seamless integration into Canadian society. Through a steadfast commitment to sponsorship agreements with Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), LGC continues to offer support to newcomers, providing crucial assistance with housing, integration, and other essential services.

International Outreach

Beyond its local community, LGC extends its philanthropic endeavors globally, offering support to regions ravaged by various crises, including conflict, natural disasters, and pandemics. In collaboration with Covenant International, the Church and its members have been instrumental in empowering underprivileged children in Africa, providing financial assistance for their education and living expenses. These efforts have yielded inspiring success stories, with some of these children graduating from colleges and becoming agents of positive change within their communities.
